What you'll learn
- Add, subtract and multiply complex numbers, reducing `i^2` to `-1` and writing every result in standard form `a + bi`
- Add and subtract complex numbers by combining real parts and imaginary parts separately
- Multiply a complex number by a single factor or by a second complex binomial, squaring a binomial by expanding it as a product
- Compute `(a+bi)(a-bi)` and state why the result is real
- Explain why the like-terms analogy holds for complex addition but fails for complex multiplication
