- Lesson Plan →Objectives, pacing and practice, built from this lesson's brief.
- Guided Notes →One page your students fill in and keep.
- Exit Ticket →Three items at the end of class. No student accounts.
- Re-teach →After an exit ticket: who missed what, and what to do tomorrow.
- Homework →Assign practice; it grades itself.
"Solve real-world and mathematical problems about the: • area or perimeter of a geometric figure or an object that can be modeled by a geometric figure using given information."
"Demonstrate procedural fluency by selecting the correct: • area formula and correctly calculating a specified value."

What you'll learn
- Apply area formulas for rectangles (A=lw), triangles (A=1/2*bh), parallelograms (A=bh), trapezoids (A=1/2*(b1+b2)*h), and circles (A=pi*r^2)
- Decompose composite figures into non-overlapping simpler shapes and sum their areas
- Find the area of shaded regions by subtracting the area of an inner shape from an outer shape
- Calculate the perimeter of polygons and composite figures, counting only the outer boundary — including edges exposed by a cut-out and curved edges from C = 2πr
- Calculate the area of polygons on the coordinate plane
- Solve applied problems in which a real-world object is modelled by these figures
