What you'll learn

  1. Recognize an exponential function f(x) = a·bˣ from a table, a rule or a graph, and read a as the initial value and b as the factor that classifies it as growth, decay or constant
  2. Write f(x) = a·bˣ from a table by testing for a constant ratio, and explain why f(0) = a from b⁰ = 1
  3. Convert a percent rate to a factor and a factor back to a percent rate, in both the growth and decay directions
  4. Describe an exponential graph's end behavior in both directions, evaluating at negative inputs, and name its horizontal asymptote
  5. Choose between equivalent exponential forms based on the feature each displays
