Lesson Plan
Tangent lines and chord properties
Goals / Objectives
Identify and apply the tangent-radius perpendicularity property to find unknown lengths and angles
Use the theorem that two tangent segments from the same external point are congruent
Calculate the distance from a circle's center to a chord using the perpendicular bisector relationship
Apply chord-chord relationships, including the intersecting chords length theorem
Standards
"Use definitions, properties, and theorems relating to circles and parts of circles such as radii, diameters, tangents, angles, arc lengths, and sector areas to solve problems." "... use the distance formula in problems related to circles."
