HSF.IF.C.7.c: Graph polynomial functions, identifying zeros when suitable factorizations are available, and showing end behavior.
What you'll learn
- Identify the zeros (x-intercepts) of a polynomial function from a factored form and plot them on the coordinate plane
- Determine the end behavior of a polynomial from the degree and leading coefficient
- Describe and graph the effect of zero multiplicity: crossing at odd multiplicity, touching (bouncing) at even multiplicity
- Sketch a rough graph of a polynomial using zeros, end behavior, and multiplicity behavior as structural anchors
- Use technology to graph polynomials when factoring is not feasible and identify key features from the technology display
- Determine the maximum number of turning points for a polynomial of degree n (at most n - 1)
