Lesson Plan
Triangle inequality theorem
Goals / Objectives
State the triangle inequality theorem: the sum of any two sides must be greater than the third side
Determine whether three given lengths can form a triangle
Find the range of possible values for the third side when two sides are known
Solve SAT multiple-choice problems of the form "which of the following could be the length of the third side?"
Standards
"Know and directly apply relevant theorems such as the: • triangle angle sum theorem. • vertical angle theorem and the relationship of angles formed when a transversal cuts parallel lines."
