Lesson Plan

Congruent triangles (conceptual identification)

Goals / Objectives

Define congruence for triangles as having all corresponding sides and angles equal

Identify corresponding parts of congruent triangles from diagrams with tick marks and arc marks

Write congruence statements with vertices in corresponding order

Use known congruence between triangles to find missing side lengths and angle measures

Recognize which given facts are sufficient to conclude two triangles are congruent (SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, HL) and which are not (SSA, AAA)

Standards

"Use concepts and theorems relating to congruence and similarity of triangles to solve problems." "Determine which statements may be required to prove certain relationships or to satisfy a given theorem."
