Lesson Plan
Angle relationships (complementary, supplementary, vertical)
Goals / Objectives
Identify complementary angles, supplementary angles, linear pairs, and vertical angles in a figure
Compute the complement or supplement of a given angle
Use the facts that angles on a straight line sum to 180 degrees and angles around a point sum to 360 degrees to find unknown angles
Apply the vertical angle theorem, and explain it in one step from linear pairs
Write and solve a linear equation from an angle relationship shown in a figure, and check the result against the relationship
Standards
"Know and directly apply relevant theorems such as the: ... • vertical angle theorem and the relationship of angles formed when a transversal cuts parallel lines."
