Lesson Plan

Writing equations of lines from slope/points

Goals / Objectives

Write the equation of a line given a point and the slope, using point-slope form

Compute a slope from two points and write the resulting equation

Confirm that either of two given points produces the same line

Write the equation of a line read from a graph

Write the equation of a line from a table, verifying constant rate of change first

Standards

"Write an equation for a line given two points on the line, one point and the slope of the line, or one point and a parallel or perpendicular line." "Make connections between: » an algebraic representation and a graph of a linear equation in two variables not in context. » a table and an algebraic representation or between a table and a graph of a linear equation in two variables not in context."
