Lesson Plan

Represent data with plots

Goals / Objectives

Construct dot plots, histograms, and box plots to represent univariate quantitative data

Choose the most appropriate plot type based on the nature of the data and the questions being investigated

Interpret information from each plot type, including identifying patterns, outliers, and overall distribution shape

Compare the strengths and limitations of each plot type for displaying data

Use technology (spreadsheets, graphing calculators, statistical software) to create data displays efficiently and accurately

Standards

HSS.ID.A.1
