Common Core Math - HS Geometry

Lesson Plan

Use distance formula for area

Goals / Objectives

Compute the perimeter of a polygon by summing the distances between consecutive vertices using the distance formula

Compute the area of a rectangle in the coordinate plane using the lengths of its sides

Compute the area of a triangle given the coordinates of its three vertices, using both the base-height method and the coordinate area formula

Apply the Shoelace formula to compute the area of any simple polygon given its vertices in order

Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving perimeters and areas of coordinate plane figures
