Common Core Math - Grade 7

Lesson Plan

Understand that rewriting an expression in different forms can shed light on the problem

Goals / Objectives

Rewrite an expression in a different equivalent form using properties of operations

Explain what each form of an expression reveals about the quantities it represents

Connect percent increase/decrease language to multiplication expressions (e.g., a + 0.05a = 1.05a)

Recognize that equivalent forms of expressions are genuinely equal--not approximations

Choose the most useful form of an expression for a given problem context

Standards

7.EE.A.2

7.EE.A.2 -- Understand that rewriting an expression in different forms can shed light on the problem and how the quantities in it are related. For example, a + 0.05a = 1.05a means that "increase by 5%" is the same as "multiply by 1.05."
