ACT Math
Lesson Plan
Degree-radian conversion
Goals / Objectives
Convert between degree and radian measure in exact form, in either direction, including measures such as 75 degrees that do not reduce to a landmark angle and radian measures given without pi such as 2 radians
Define one radian as the central angle that subtends an arc equal in length to the radius, explain why the measure carries no unit symbol, and derive pi radians = 180 degrees from the circumference
State the radian measures of 30, 45, 60, 90, 180 and 360 degrees on sight, and reconstruct any forgotten entry from the fits-into-180 pattern
Identify an angle's unit from its notation, and evaluate trig functions in that unit
Standards
F 704. Exhibit knowledge of unit circle trigonometry G 701. Use relationships among angles, arcs, and distances in a circle F 705. Match graphs of basic trigonometric functions with their equations
