Lesson Plan
Finite and Infinite Sets
Goals / Objectives
This lesson’s brief has no ## Learning Objectives
Standards
Learning Outcome: The learner demonstrates the knowledge of sets to solve problems in real life situations.
Content: Finite and infinite sets; Subsets; Venn diagram (2 events); Probability
Subject Competences: Identifies finite and infinite sets; Forms subsets from finite sets; Derives the formula for finding the number of subsets; Applies the formula to find number of subsets; Determines the number of subsets; Represents information on Venn diagrams; Solves problems involving Venn diagrams; Works out probability of events using Venn diagrams
Background: "This is a continuation of work on sets studied in the previous classes. Teachers should not give the learners the formula for calculating the number of subsets in a set. Instead they should help the learners to derive the formula on their own. Finite and infinite sets are introduced and these concepts should be explained to the learner properly."
Guidance to the Teacher: "Use application of work covered on sets in previous classes at the beginning of the topic."
