Lesson Plan

Using trig ratios to find missing sides and angles

Goals / Objectives

Choose the correct trig ratio (sin, cos, or tan) based on which sides are known and unknown

Set up and solve an equation to find a missing side using a trig ratio and a known angle

Use inverse trig functions (sin^(-1), cos^(-1), tan^(-1)) to find a missing angle given two sides

Solve applied right triangle problems involving angles of elevation and depression

Interpret and solve SAT-style word problems that require trigonometric ratios

Standards

"Solve problems in a variety of contexts using: ... • right triangle trigonometry."
