Lesson Plan

Graph linear inequalities

Goals / Objectives

Graph the solution set of a linear inequality in two variables as a half-plane, using a solid boundary for <= or >= and a dashed boundary for < or >

Determine which half-plane to shade by substituting a test point (typically the origin) and checking whether it satisfies the inequality

Write the inequality corresponding to a given shaded half-plane graph

Graph the solution set of a system of linear inequalities in two variables as the intersection of the corresponding half-planes

Identify whether a given point satisfies a system of linear inequalities by verifying it against each inequality
