Lesson Plan

Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients

Goals / Objectives

Solve linear equations that contain fraction coefficients by applying inverse operations or by multiplying both sides by the least common denominator (LCD) to clear fractions

Solve linear equations that contain decimal coefficients by applying inverse operations or by multiplying both sides by a power of 10 to clear decimals

Apply the distributive property to expand expressions within a linear equation, then collect like terms to solve for the variable

Solve multi-step equations that combine rational number coefficients, distribution, and variables on both sides, justifying each algebraic step

Verify solutions by substituting the result back into the original equation and confirming both sides are equal
