Common Core Math - Grade 7

Lesson Plan

Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, volume and surface area of two- and three-dimensional objects

Goals / Objectives

Compute areas of triangles, quadrilaterals, and other polygons, including composite 2D figures

Compute volumes of right prisms (rectangular, triangular, and other polygonal bases)

Compute surface areas of right prisms and pyramids by decomposing into component faces

Solve real-world and mathematical problems requiring area, volume, or surface area

Select the appropriate measure (area, volume, surface area) for a given real-world context

Use the circle area formula (7.G.B.4) in composite figure problems involving circles and polygons

Standards

7.G.B.6

7.G.B.6 -- Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, volume and surface area of two- and three-dimensional objects composed of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, cubes, and right prisms.
